I’m a developer specialising in c# and ruby on rails development though like most programmers I’ve dabbled in other languages such as c++, python and VB6 as the need arose. I graduated from Plymouth Uni in 2000 with a BEng(Hons) in Robotics and Automated Systems.
I started out in industrial automation writing software for PLCs and whilst it’s great fun watching something whizz and whir at your whim I started to enjoy creating user interfaces more… what can I say, I have an arty side!
I’ve been working with c# since 2004 mainly focusing on winforms and general user interface issues, wrangling great looking and useable interfaces with GDI+ and more recently WPF. I haven’t forgotten my roots and so I still find myself talking to hardware devices over RS232 now and then.
I’ve been working on ruby on rails projects since 1.1.6 mainly focusing on the social networking side of things with projects like YouStats.com (my first site) which gives people trying to lose weight a community in which to share experiences, tips etc. I’ve even dipped my toes into the murky waters of online dating with TrulySomeone.com, a free to use dating site.
